YARN

Worsted Weight Yarn in Grey, Red and White

This blanket pattern is fully customizable, yardage will vary depending on the dimensions of the blanket.

HOOK

5.5 mm

ADDITIONAL SUPPLIES

  • Yarn Needle
  • Scissors

NOTES

  • Beginning chain DOES count as a stitch

ABBREVIATIONS (US TERMS)

  • slst – Slipstitch
  • ch – Chain
  • sc – Single Crochet
  • dc – Double Crochet
  • fpdc – Front Post Double Crochet

PATTERN

In grey, begin by chaining any multiple of 3 + 1 (I started with a ch of 100)

ROW 1

  • dc in the 3rd ch from your hook and each stitch across

ROW 2

  • ch 2 (counts as begging dc), turn

Note that your ch 2 counts as a dc so you will skip the first stitch and work into the second stitch in each Row

  • *fpdc, dc, dc*
  • Repeat from * to * across until 1 stitch and your turning chain from the row below remains
  • fpdc in last stitch, dc in the top of your turning ch in the row below

ROW 3

  • ch 2 (counts as begging dc), turn 
  • *dc, fpdc, fpdc*
  • Repeat from * to * across until 1 stitch and your turning chain from the row below remains
  • dc in last stitch, dc in the top of your turning ch in the row below

Continue repeating Rows 2 and 3 until your blanket reaches your desired size, end with a repeat of Row 2

BORDER

ROW 1

In Grey, ch 1, do not turn, sc evenly around all sides of the blanket, placing 3 sc in each corner. Join with a slst to beginning sc, fasten off.

ROW 2

Join white, ch 1, sc in each stitch around, placing 3 sc in each corner. Join with a slst to beginning sc, fasten off.

ROW 3

Join red, ch 1, sc in each stitch around, placing 3 sc in each corner. Join with a slst to beginning sc, fasten off.

ROW 4

Join white, ch 1, sc in each stitch around, placing 3 sc in each corner. Join with a slst to beginning sc, fasten off.

    I LOVE LOVE LOVE this pattern and plan on making it. I’m wondering how much yarn I’ll need to buy? I’m hoping to make a throw maybe 55”x 72” or so?
    How big was your blanket and how many yards of grey did you use?
