Materials
- 5.5 mm Hook
- 100 yards Worsted Weight 100% Cotton Yarn
- Removable Stitch Marker
Notes
- Beginning ch does not count as a stitch
- I used Bernat Handicrafter to make the bag pictured but any worsted weight cotton yarn will work
Abbreviations (US Terms)
- mr – Magic Ring
- slst – Slip Stitch
- ch – Chain
- sc – Single Crochet
- hdc – Half Double Crochet
Sizing
This pattern was designed to fit a child sized water bottle but it can easily be made to fit a taller water bottle by continuing on with the repeated row until you reach your desired height.
Pattern
Begin with a mr, ch 1
ROW 1
- hdc 10 into mr
- slst to first hdc (10 stitches)
ROW 2
- ch 1
- 2 hdc in each stitch around
- slst to beginning hdc (20 stitches)
ROW 3
- ch 1
- *hdc in next stitch, 2 hdc in next stitch*
- Repeat from * to * around
- slst to beginning hdc (30 stitches)
ROW 4
- ch 1
- hdc in each stitch around
Do not join, the body of the bag will be made in continuous rounds, use a removable stitch marker to keep track of your row count.
ROW 5 – 15
- hdc in each stitch around
At the end of row 15, slst to the first hdc in the row to join
ROW 16 – 17
- ch 1
- sc in each stitch around
- slst to beginning sc
Strap
- ch 135 (or more for a longer strap)
- Join to the opposite side of the bag with a slst
- Continue to slst in each chain of the strap until you reach the beginning of your ch
- Join with a slst
Fasten off and weave in ends.
