Materials
- 8 mm Needles /16” Cable
- 65 Yards Weight 6 Yarn
Notes
I was able to complete the decrease portion of the beanie using my 16” cable but if you find it tricky switching to DPN’s may be helpful.
Abbreviations
- sts – Stitches
- pm – Place Marker
- k – Knit
- k2tog – Knit 2 sts Together
- p – Purl
Gauge
6 sts and 10 rows = 2 inches
Dimensions
- Fits average sized teen or woman’s head (21 -23 inch circumference)
- Finished Messy Bun Beanie should measure approximately 8 inches tall and 8.5 inches wide
- Finished Beanie should measure approximately 8.5 inches tall and 8.5 inches wide
Pattern
BRIM
Cast on 44 sts, pm and and join for working in the round.
ROW 1 – 6
- *k1, p1*
- Repeat from * to * around (44 sts)
BODY
ROW 1 – 2
- K all sts (44 sts)
ROW 3 – 4
- *k1, p1*
- Repeat from * to * around (44 sts)
ROW 5 – 20
Repeat Rows 1 – 4
DECREASE
ROW 1
- K all sts (44 sts)
ROW 2
- *k2tog*
- Repeat from * to * around (22 sts)
FINISHING
Loosely bind off all remaining sts knitwise, fasten off and weave in ends!
