24/7 Cotton from Lion Brand Yarn

5 mm

  • Yarn Needle
  • Scissors

NOTES

  • Beginning chain may or may not count as a stitch
  • I used 24/7 Cotton and a 5 mm hook to make the bag pictured but any yarn/hook could be used. Note that using a different yarn or hook will change the finished dimensions of your bag

ABBREVIATIONS (US TERMS)

  • slst – Slipstitch
  • ch – Chain
  • sc – Single Crochet
  • dc – Double Crochet

DIMENSIONS

Bag measures approximately 10 inches tall and 12 inches wide 

*Please Note: Using a different yarn and/or hook size will change the dimensions of your bag.

PATTERN

Ch 4, slst to beginning ch to form a ring

ROW 1

  • Ch 2 (counts as beginning dc)
  • 2 dc into ring, ch 2
  • (3 dc into ring, ch 2) 3 times
  • Slst to top of beginning ch 2

ROW 2

  • Slst over next 2 stitches and into the first ch space
  • In the first ch space, ch 2 (counts as beginning dc), 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc
  • In each remaining ch space, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc
  • slst to top of beginning ch 2

ROW 3

  • slst over next 2 stitches and into the first space 
  • In the first ch space, ch 2 (counts as beginning dc), 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc 
  • *In next space 3 dc 
  • In next ch space, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc* 
  • Repeat from * to * 2 times 
  • In the last space 3 dc 
  • slst to top of beginning ch 2

ROW 4

  • slst over next 2 stitches and into the first space
  • In the first ch space, ch 2 (counts as beginning dc), 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc
  • *3 dc in each space until you reach the corner ch space
  • In corner ch space, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc*
  • Repeat from * to * 2 times
  • 3 dc in each space until you reach the end of the row
  • slst to top of beginning ch 2

ROW 5 – 7

Repeat Row 4

ROW 8

  • slst over next 2 stitches and into the first space 
  • In the first ch space, ch 2 (counts as beginning dc), 2 dc

Continue working around, place 3 dc in each space, including the corner spaces (increases are no longer required

  • slst to top of beginning ch 2

ROW 9 – 31

Repeat Row 8

*If you’d like to change the height of your bag, omit or add rows here

When you reach the end of Row 31 you will not end at the side of the bag where you want your handle rows to begin. Fasten off and join with a slst to the centre of one of the sides. 

ROW 32 – 33

  • ch 1 (does not count as a stitch), sc in the same stitch
  • sc in each stitch around
  • slst to beginning sc

ROW 34

  • ch 1 (does not count as a stitch), sc in the same stitch
  • sc in the next 14 stitches
  • Ch 60, skip the next 12 stitches
  • sc in the next 30 stitches
  • ch 60, skip the next 12 stitches
  • sc in the next 15 stitches
  • slst to beginning sc

ROW 35 – 36

  • ch 1 (does not count as a stitch), sc in the same stitch
  • sc in each stitch around
  • slst to beginning sc

FINISHING

Fasten off and weave in ends!
