NOTES
This pattern is designed to fit an average sized smart phone. My finished bags measure approximately 4.5 inches wide and 6 inches tall.
I used Bernat Softee Cotton and a 5.5 mm Tunisian Hook but the pattern can easily be adjusted for any weight yarn or different sized phone:
- Use whatever hook size works best for your chosen yarn, when choosing a Tunisian hook I find it’s best to size up. For example, with Weight 4 yarn my preference is to use a 6.5 mm Tunisian Hook
- To adjust the width of the bag add or omit stitches from your starting chain
- To adjust the height add or omit any number of the repeated rows
PATTERN
Make two:
Ch 15
ROW 1
- Pick up 1 loop through the second ch from the hook and each ch to end
- Work standard return pass
ROW 2
- *tss, tks*
- Repeat from * to * until 1 stitch remains
- 1 edge stitch in last stitch
- Work standard return pass
ROW 3
- *tks, tss*
- Repeat from * to * until 1 stitch remains
- 1 edge stitch in last stitch
- Work standard return pass
ROW 4 – 23
Repeat Rows 2 and 3.
BIND OFF
Bind off as if you’d be repeating Row 3, alternating your hook placement between a tks and tss.
Do not fasten off.
*Switch to your 4.5 mm Crochet Hook
- Ch 1 and turn your piece clockwise
- sc down the side, placing 2 sc in each corner and continuing around the entire piece
- slst to beginning sc and fasten off.
FINISHING
When you have made both pieces, place them together with the right sides facing out, using your 4.5 mm crochet hook, attach your yarn somewhere along what will be the bottom of the bag with a slst and ch 1.
ROW 1
- sc through both pieces around the bag until you reach the top corner
- ch 200 (or any number of stitches to make the strap length of your choice)
- Join with a slst to the other corner to create your strap
- Continue to sc around the bag until you reach your beginning sc
- Slst to beginning sc
ROW 2
- Slst into each stitch around
When you have completed Row 2, fasten off weave in ends and enjoy your new phone tote!
