SIZING
This pattern is designed to fit an average sized teen or woman’s head (21 – 23 inch circumference). Your finished headband should measure approximately 9 inches wide and 4 inches tall.
It can easily be adjusted:
- To adjust the height of the headband add or omit stitches from your starting chain in multiples of 2
- To adjust the width add or omit any number of the repeated rows
PATTERN
Ch 12
ROW 1
- Pick up 1 loop through the second ch from the hook and each ch to end
- Work standard return pass
ROW 2
- *tss, tks*
- Repeat from * to * until 1 stitch remains
- 1 edge stitch in last stitch
- Work standard return pass
ROW 3
- *tks, tss*
- Repeat from * to * until 1 stitch remains
- 1 edge stitch in last stitch
- Work standard return pass
ROW 4 – 54
Repeat Rows 2 and 3.
Your headband should measure approximately 18 inches after Row 54, if it does not continue on with the repeated rows until it does, finishing on a repeat of Row 3.
BIND OFF
Bind off as if you’d be repeating Row 2, alternating your hook placement between a tss and tks and fasten off leaving a long tail.
FINISHING
Using the long tail and your yarn needle, seam both edges together.
Next, attach yarn to one side of the headband in the stitch to the left of the seam with a slst, ch 1, sc around the side, placing one stitch at the end of each row, slst to beginning sc and fasten off.
Repeat on the other side.
Weave in ends and enjoy your beautiful new headband!
